You are invited to a seminar about the continuing persecution of Falun Gong in China

Time: 4 – 5 pm Tuesday 20 July 2010
Venue: Committee Room 6, Committee Corridor, Palace of Westminster
Chairman: Julian Huppert MP
Speakers:
Ethan Gutmann, veteran investigative journalist and author of New York Sun’s Best Book of 2004 “Losing the New China”. He is a recipient of “Chans Journalism” and “Spirit of Tiananmen” awards. His testimony was used when US Congress examined Cisco, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft for their cooperation with the censorship in China.
Annie Yang, Falun Gong practitioner and victim of persecution was incarcerated in a labour camp in China where she was tortured for her beliefs.
Jaya Gibson, investigative journalist produced 3 China Human Rights documentaries and conducts political lobbying and Human Rights media campaigns in London and the US. He testified at the UNHRC alleging political influence of the CCP on the Singaporean judiciary.

Gutmann will present an overview of the CCP's (Chinese Communist Party's) persecution of Falun Gong. He will describe how the CCP is conducting an "increasing global war" on Falun Gong and he will dispel the common misconceptions about the CCP's motives and methods it uses. He will provide an exclusive insight into the Laogai detention system, the practice of organ harvesting and the cyber war between the CCP and its dissidents. Gutmann's testimony to the US Congressional Executive Commission on China on 18 June 2010 can be found here: www.cecc.gov/pages/roundtables/2010/20100618/gutmannTestimony.pdf

Gibson will describe initiatives to prevent the CCP's increasingly oppressive influence on the internet. He will explain the efforts of the Global Internet Freedom Consortium (GIFC) to combat totalitarian regimes such as Iran and China and he will debunk the notion of conflict between human rights and trade with China.

"Falun Gong are a peaceable spiritual group who have never harmed anybody. Tragically they are to the Beijing regime what the Jews were to the Nazis – an internal enemy."
Edward McMillan-Scott, former Vice-President of the European Parliament

"It’s important for more attention to be paid to this issue so that every person is aware that the communist regime in China is engaged in this type of ghoulish crime."
Dana Rohrabacher, US Congress Representative

I hope you will join us in this discussion.

Yours sincerely,
